Desk

So I found this desk on craigslist for $20. I've been wanting my own desk for awhile as well as wanting to see if I could do a refurbish project. So this desk was a two-fer.
The green doesn't really go with anything I have so I decided to paint it white. Nice and new.
After a few coats of paint and some finish I'm done! Can't wait to set up my new desk in my new home in Maryland!
I painted all the hardware a flat black and I love it.
So what do you think about my first DIY project?

Baby shower gift

So I have been to a couple baby showers in the past couple weeks. I decided to do a hand made gift for these amazing families and their new additions. The first was for my friend, Kandace, who is having baby boy number two! His name is Kahlen and this is what I made for him.
The second was for my friend,Sharon, who is having her first. A baby girl named,Peyton! She is definitely going to be a little southern bell. Here is her gift.
I really hope the families enjoy these!

Rain drops and painted clouds

We've had some weird weather here lately but it opened the opprotunity for the sky to be amazing. I loved the way the clouds looked painted on the sky yesterday!
This picture reminds me of Easter. I can hear
"Arise, My love.
Arise, My love.
The grave no longer
has a hold on you
No more death's sting
No more suffering
Arise...Arise...my love"
I just couldn't stop staring at the beauty!!
They looked like God took at paint brush and went to work! AWESOME!
On a different note, the rain has been pretty crazy the past week too. So, of course, I had to get some rain drop pictures.
And another. Orion's truck looks so sad. It just wants to be played with ;)
Hopefully it dries out soon so we can go out and play!

In the mean time...

So, as most of you know, Dan left yesterday for his training at Goodfellow. I am very happy to say that we (Orion and I) will be heading out of here around the end of March. I can't wait to get to Maryland and get stuff unpacked. We left most of our decorations packed up here because we knew we wouldn't be here long. I am so ready to see my pretty pictures back on the walls!
In the mean time, I'm trying to work more on my photography and work with Orion lots.I still have so much to learn about my camera and all its capabilities. Plus, I'm still learning how to use some good editing software. Crazy stuff! I'm trying to teach Orion to recognize all the letters, not just the ones in his name.  He can say the alphabet but I want him to recognize what he's saying now. His attention span is like non-existent so we will do the flash cards a couple times through out the day.
I've also decided to take these few months and focus on my self. Started exercising again today and making sure I do my back stretches a few times a day so that I'm not in so much pain all the time.
So,anyhow, that's what I'll be doing in the mean time...

Just wanted to throw in a pretty picture for you ;)

Globe Trotter

As most of you know we got our orders. Ft Meade, Maryland here we come. I will be driving with Orion and stopping on the way to see friends and family. If I were to drive straight through it would be about 30,000 miles. Holy crap, that's a long trip. With my son and stopping, I'm hoping it will only take 9-10 days. We'll see though. Dan should be getting more information today about when I can go and all that. I see a lot of boxes in my future!

Can't wait to start this next adventure! We are going to be so much closer to family and friends. At this point when you can count your travel time by hours and not days that's close!
Fort Meade, Maryland, We're heading your way!

Adventures with Tiffany

So, one of my best friends came to spend the week with me. We have had one adventure after another. Tiffany and I went to Big Sur one day just us girls. It was so nice to have a little girl time. Here is a picture of Tiffany.
Big Sur was so pretty! We had a great time taking little "adventures" down the different paths to the water.

This is one of the paths that we manuvered. It was a small portion of what we accomplished to see the awesomeness that God created.

It was 70 and sunny. What a perfect day to see the sites!

I am so greatful and blessed to have such great friends. Tiff, I have had so much fun with you and am going to be really sad to see you go tomorrow! Love you!

Dinner

Sometimes, being the mom of a toddler calls for some creativity.  One day they like something the next they don't. This includes all things from bugs to dinner. My son is pretty picky when it comes to his food. Dan and I had chicken salad last night for dinner. Of course Orion wouldn't eat the salad but he won't eat grilled chicken either. He won't eat anything with "lines" on it. So I was searching the kitchen trying to decide what to make him. We need to go grocery shopping so choices where slim. I thought I'd get creative with what I had. This is what I came up with.
Cracker Pizza!!
I had crackers, mini pepperonies, cheese, and spegetti sause. Orion thought it was cool that he had something "special". I need these creative juices to flow some more.
Of course I had to eat one. They were pretty tasty. Now if I could only get him to eat veggies ;)
